First Entry

This blog is has come to exist as a result of my love for history.

Before we begin I would like to emphasize that this blog has three focuses. The first is Christianity, the second is history, and the third is philosophy. Specifically Orthodox Christianity will be examined as it came down from the Apostles of Jesus Christ and spread to the ends of the world. This blog will examine the relationship between Christianity and History, and in doing so will also have a sort of philosophical feel to it.

This blog will also cover ancient history from before the Incarnation of Jesus Christ seeing as God created the world and had a plan for it from the very beginning, and He knew that His Only-Begotten Son would be incarnate “in the fullness of time” (Galatians 4:4). As God became Man, this blog will examine Mankind throughout the ages and see the things that have bound us together and made us distinct from the beginning of time as God’s highest creation that is in His Image (Genesis 1:26-27). More importantly the longing for God that has always been expressed in Mankind through various ways over the ages will be examined, and therefore necessarily we will have to go back to the very beginning of history to see it.

History is a very rich discipline of study because it encompasses all the other disciplines. No matter whether it be art, science, philosophy, or writing, all disciplines are covered in the study of history. History, therefore, is close to the Christian faith because Christianity has a cosmic vision that involves the entire creation from the plants to the stars and from dirt to humanity. It is also very important because God Himself entered into history and into all that history studies when He became Man therefore history now has a completely different meaning and through its careful study we see God’s work.

Finally, this blog will also have a sort of philosophical feel to it because it is going to be reflective on how Christianity and history have interacted and how we can learn from that interaction. It will also go into the method of history, which like all other methodologies of disciplines and fields of study is philosophical. It will examine the flaws as well as the strengths of modern historians and how the study of history began, developed, and reached us today. It will also look beyond the method and see the things that are unchanging in history.

May this blog serve as edification to all Christians as well as a light to those who are seeking the ultimate truth in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, One God. Amen.
